Mailbox Only - Residence Only - V6.0
Product Description
Mailbox Only is a stand alone residential Voice Messaging mailbox. It allows the end-user to customize their mailbox arrangement. For example, use Mailbox Only if the end-user wants to have:
- A different Call Forwarding arrangement
- Message Waiting Indication Visual without Audible
- A mailbox on Market Expansion Line® (MEL) Service also referred to as Remote Call Forwarding.
Market Expansion Line Service is used for end-users who do not need (or cannot have) a telephone line, but still want Voice Messaging.
Mailbox Only can have all the same mailbox features that are available for Voice Messaging Service (VMJXA and VMJXB). Additional information on Voice Messaging Service - Residence Only.
The following mailboxes are considered to be standard Voice Messaging Service:
USOC | INCLUDES |
VMJXA | Residential Mailbox, Call Forward Busy Line/Don't Answer to the mailbox and Message Waiting Indication Audible |
VMJXB | Residential Mailbox, Call Forward Busy Line/Don't Answer to the mailbox and Message Waiting Indication Audible-Visual. |
VMJXX | Mailbox Only (Call Forwarding and Message Waiting Indication must be added separately) |
Message Waiting Indication provides an audible dial tone and/or message light to signal that messages have entered the mailbox. If the end-user wants it with Mailbox Only, Message Waiting Indication must be ordered as a separate feature.
Message Waiting Indication is required in 5ESS® central office (CO) switch type to provision the mailbox. If the end-user is served by a 5ESS office and does not want Message Waiting Indication, contact your CenturyLink Service Manager for assistance.
If ordering Mailbox Only with MEL Service, you will not need Message Waiting Indication since there is no telephone involved.
Call Forwarding Busy Line/Don't Answer must be ordered in conjunction with Mailbox Only unless the Mailbox Only will work with a Market Expansion Line.
Availability
Mailbox Only is available wherever residential Voice Messaging is offered and cannot be ordered without ordering residential Voice Messaging. Mailbox Only requires either:

Feature Detail (FID and Data Requirements)
The FID CFN (Call Forwarding Number) followed by the telephone number that forwards to the Voice Response Unit (VRU), if available, follows the Call Forwarding USOCs.
If Market Expansion Line Service, the CFN FID, if available, follows the MEL Service USOC (RCF++ or RD6).
Mailbox Only requires the FID RCYC (Ring Cycle) followed by numeric 1 to 9. When the line is busy, calls go directly into Voice Messaging Service after one ring. But when the phone rings with no answer, the end-user has a choice of how many times the telephone will ring before it forwards to the mailbox. See the following table for Ring Cycle Option settings:
Option # | # of Rings End-user Hears | # of Seconds Phone Rings |
1 | 1-2 | 6-12 |
2 | 2-3 | 12-18 |
3 | 3-4 | 18-24 |
4 | 4-5 | 24-30 |
5 | 5-6 | 30-36 |
6 | 6-7 | 36-42 |
7 | 7-8 | 42-48 |
8 | 8-9 | 48-54 |
NOTE: The FID RCYC must follow the Call Forwarding USOC.
