Continuous Redial - V12.0
Product Description
Continuous Redial allows an end-user who encounters a busy condition while placing an outgoing call to prompt the central office to redial the telephone number until the call can be completed.
A distinctive ring (short, short, long) will let the end-user know when the call can be completed. Once the end-user picks up the telephone, the central office will automatically ring the called party.
Continuous Redial is offered on a monthly subscription basis and a Pay Per Use (PPU) basis.
End-users can prevent access to Pay Per Use Continuous Redial by having their access lines "blocked".
Continuous Redial Deluxe is an enhancement to Continuous Redial that will prompt end-users to press '3' to activate Continuous Redial when they reach a busy signal.
When end-users dial an Intra Local Access and Transport Area (IntraLATA) telephone number within their Signaling System 7 (SS7)/Custom Local Area Signaling Services (CLASS™) area that is busy, they will hear a recorded message advising them that the telephone number is busy, and for a charge, CenturyLink will keep trying to reach the telephone number for a 30 minute period.
The Continuous Redial Deluxe message will not be played to Business Classes of Service or UNE-P POTS in a 5ESS® switch type.
End-users can prevent access to Continuous Redial Deluxe by having their access lines "blocked".
The following activation and deactivation code information is applicable for Plain Old Telephone Service (POTS) and Centrex 21 products. Centrex Plus, Centrex Prime, and Centron® products code information can be obtained from your CenturyLink Sales Executive for new account and CenturyLink Service Manager for existing accounts.
After reaching a busy condition, the following steps describe how to activate Continuous Redial:
- Hang up the telephone.
- Go off-hook and listen for dial tone.
- Dial *66 from a touchtone telephone or 1166 from a Rotary telephone to activate Continuous Redial which will prompt the central office to dial the last out-going call telephone number.
- If the call is answered, Continuous Redial is automatically cancelled.
- If the line is still busy, a recorded announcement will direct the end-user to hang up.
- Continuous Redial will attempt to complete the call for up to 30 minutes.
- The end-user may continue to place and receive calls while Continuous Redial is activated.
- The end-user will be notified via a distinctive ring (short, short, long) when the central office is ready to complete the call.
After receiving distinctive ring, do one of the following when answering Continuous Redial:
- Ignore the distinctive ring. The central office will attempt to reestablish the call later.
- Pick up the receiver. The central office will instantly place the call. If the end-user should reach busy:
DMS™-10/DMS-100/ Ericsson central office switch types:
- Hang-up, Continuous Redial will automatically be reactivated.
All other central office switch types:
- The end-user will receive an announcement advising you to reactivate Continuous Redial by dialing *66.
To reactivate Continuous Redial when contact has not been established within the 30-minute time limit:
- Go off-hook and listen for dial tone.
- The end-user must reactivate the Continuous Redial feature prior to making any new calls. If the end-user makes a new call before reactivating the feature, it will redial the most recent call.
- Dial *66 from a touchtone telephone or 1166 from a rotary telephone.
Continuous Redial Deluxe can be disabled for one call by dialing *03 immediately before dialing a telephone number in a DMS-100 office only. It cannot be disabled for one call in a 5ESS.
The Continuous Redial Deluxe recorded message will return for the next call if a busy condition is reached.
